  1. I need some particularly dedicated roleplayers. The sort willing to experiment with new forms. The sort who don't sit around in IRCs and post 'boop' all the time like a bunch of tarts. I need long-form posting. I need Euros.

What kind of RP did you have in mind?

It's not a new one. I need to recruit new people for an old RP. Or rather, old in the sense that as a franchise it's been alive for five or six years. We're on our first reboot which is a few months old.

It's an NRP, or Nation Roleplay. The effective format is you assume control of a country, which is to say you have franchise over the country's citizens as characters to write out your own stories as your own, or cooperate or compete with others to spin stories. In an effort to compete with OOC politics, I need someone to take up the mantle of a country in Western Europe, otherwise the powers that share it with me are moving towards the notion that Western Europe should just be destroyed within the story itself because no one posts there and this somehow represents baggage.

  2. "It's not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste much of it. Life is long enough, and it's been given to us in generous measure for accomplishing the greatest things, if the whole of it is well invested. But when life is squandered through soft and careless living, and when it's spent on no worthwhile pursuit, death finally presses and we realize that the life which we didn't notice passing has passed away. So it is: the life we are given isn't short but we make it so; we're not ill provided but we are wasteful oflife. Just as impressive and princely wealth is squandered in an instant when it passes into the hands of a poor manager, but wealth however modest grows through careful deployment if it is entrusted to a responsible guardian, just so our lifetime offers ample scope to the person who maps it out well."

-Seneca, On the Shortness of Life

  3. "[I learned] From Diognetus, not to busy myself about trifling things, and not to give credit to what was said by miracle-workers and jugglers about incantations and the driving away of daemons and such things; and not to breed quails for fighting, nor to give myself up passionately to such things; and to endure freedom of speech; and to have become intimate with philosophy; and to have been a hearer, first of Bacchius, then of Tandasis and Marcianus; and to have written dialogues in my youth; and to have desired a plank bed and skin, and whatever else of the kind belongs to the Grecian discipline."

Unfortunately for Fukuyama, the collapse of Stalinism was not the end of history.  The collapse of that rotten socio-economic system will inevitably be followed by a global crisis of capitalism.  Nothing is left of that "New Economic Paradigm" nonsense bourgeois economists were parroting back in the early 1990's.

We're going to keep swinging at this again and again and again. What I find funny is that I guess is that he calls himself a Hegelian but forgot some keypoints about Hegelianism. Namely what I'm thinking about is dialectics as cause and effect and that the negation of an idea is simply a negation of the idea at that time, but it may come back as soon as it finds a new notion (if I read Science of Reason right, or however it's titled. But Hegel's prose is like deleting reading.exe).

I mean, shit. If you want to go off of end of history in the Marxist sense it's only what he viewed as pre-history. Everything after will be born of new material conditions created by communism as a state of human existence.

So now it can't be described as being an end of one stage and of another in that sense since the material conditions haven't changed, if anything it might be argued it's going back. But, whatever; let it because then it can only revert when we realize a mistake has been made and then we make all the automation property of all men and not a single.

  6. I find it amazing people who can call themselves a fan of a show whose thematic emphasis is on having healthy relationships with people across all walks of life and to commit to a sort of mutual assistance towards one another and the promotion of positive interpersonal relations can attract people who believe in slavery or the supposed inherent genetic superiority of one group of individuals over another. Do they realize the cosmic irony that is their existence, or are they just here for the literal porn? Or perhaps they're here deluded by the spectacle of image, and not of thought?

The behavior of such people is explained extraordinarily well by the Dunning-Kruger Effect.

  8. Reminder Mars is a dead game and should be relegated to a meme for fiction because it'll cost hundreds of trillions and thousands of years to make it anything good; and that's assuming not only does cosmic radiation erode Mars's atmosphere but well within that time-frame we can hard boil Earth instead and make it all for naught.

Focus on Earth please, I want an actual winter back.

  9. Way things are going I think it'll be a good idea for everyone to release their sexual frustrations in some manner of open revolt. Come on, I know ya'll are preparing for it.

"Can't live without a butt, son. I'd call that natural causes."
