Rickroll. I'd never even heard of Darude before, and now that I've spent 15 seconds listening to them, my brain hurts. It's like if the bastard child of Vinyl Scratch and DIscord fell into a cement mixer which then crashed into a kazoo factory located in the center of Dresden, Germany at about 10:15pm on 13 February 1945. It's almost indescribably bad. Gas or electric?

Not enough convenient spots to set your beer down in a swimming pool. Riveted lap joints or welded butt-joints? (Assume you are working with 1/4" hot-rolled A36 steel plate in a maritime application.)

    What do you main?

I find that people who discredit Engineer on that basis tend to be either intuatively good at Engie (and don't realize it), or haven't put much time into the class. There is an art to the strategy of placing and defending structures. A well-placed Sentry, along with a Rescue Ranger and a dispenser at some distance (but well-shielded from snipers and demos) can be a devastating tool of defense. And when two or more engineers coordinate both their placement and the mutual defense of their structures (especially against spies), it's a great feeling. A poorly-placed structure of any kind will be quickly destroyed. And two or more engines who fail to play as a coordinated unit, or compete with one another, do a disservice to their team Is this directly comparable to the skill required to be effective as a spy, or the coordination that it takes to make a good sniper? Well, no. Every class is different, requiring different skills and temperaments. I'd love to be effective as a spy, but I just can't master it.

    No PLR maps at all?

I realize that a lot of folks harbor opprobrium against Hightower, but what about Pipeline and Nightfall?

    No PLR maps at all?

Unfortunately, that's incorrect. PLR and CTF are two of the better game-modes. Granted, CTF encourages sentry-farming, but this is all the more reward for a well-coordinated offense. Despite what you may think of pubs, I've witnessed good team coordination both on PF2 and here. And PLR, well, it's simply the best. The concept of a totatlly dynamic battlefield (with both objectives in motion) prevents nesting and requires an ever-changing strategy. The requirement to have constant awareness of both the offensive and defensive tactical situations is unique within TF2, and what makes this the most interesting and challenging mode.

Kindle (the old B&W model with no touchscreen). I resisted the switch for years, but for someone who travels frequently, there's no denying the utility of having a whole library that you can easily stick into your back pocket when your boarding zone is called at the airport, then whip back out as soon as you reach your seat. No need to plan ahead and think "how many books do I need to pack for this trip?" Paper or plastic? (Or do you bring your own?)

    What do you main?

The question "who do you main" ignores the concept that main classes are context-sensitive. PL BLU or PLR, I main Heavy. [Calm Russian Accent] Push cart, shoot enemy with bullet. Ignore all other thing. [/Calm Russian Accent] Any asymmetrical map (PL, CP) as RED, I main Engineer. [Texan] If I gotta defend somethin', brother, you better believe I'm gonna defend it. [/Texan] Symmetrical maps other than PL, I tend to main Pyro. Because BURN ALL THE THINGS! Sometimes, I'll switch to Demo in a 5CP map if we're really getting stomped. And I occasionally play sniper on maps that afford me nice long-range engagements, though I'm far from competent at is. Trying to learn to spy for anti-sentry purposes, but I really suck at it. I've never been able to master the timing of a good stab-n-sap.

Why did you join the fandom?

PF2. I hate to bring it up, since this is a new forum, but that's the truth. 'Twas 2012. I hadn't even played a single FPS since I graduated college, back in the Doom 2 / ROTT / Quake days. The new stuff (Halo, COD, etc) all seemed too complex / time-consuming / difficult to master. I've always been a casual. But a friend convinced me to play this game called "Portal," and that led to TF2 after it became Free-to-Play, and suddenly I rediscovered the fun of first-person-cartoon-violence. I was getting bored with pub-stomping, and started seeking out unusual and interesting servers. Landed on PF2 totally at random. Was quite confused at first, had no idea what all the inside-jokes were about, but was quite pleased by the level of skill and maturity I was seeing. Decided to download the first episode of season 1, just to try to get some idea of what y'all were talking about. Found it unbearable at first, but got to the end and... dammit, it's a cliffhanger. Ok, episode 2. Then episode 3. Next thing I know, it's 2am and I'm binge-watching a show for little girls. Buck it all... Three years later, here I am. A grown man with a normal job and a normal life who spends his free time shooting at brightly-colored magical horses and has actually (gasp) been to a convention. I am My Little Sentry.

    New Forum! Talk about it!

Well, BBcode isn't going to happen, since this forum isn't running on VB software, it's running IPS Forum. It was more of a general lament on my part. WYSIWYG is an inevitable consequence of the march of progress. I bitched and moaned in the 90s when I gave up my old text-based editors for MS Office, and I'm just bitching and moaning again now.

    Tryhard-ing?

^ This. I seem to get called a TryHard from time to time. Usually it's because I've joined a server which has plenty of players on it, and most of them are playing the game, but a few are just Derping around. My own opinoion: TF2 servers are for playing TF2 on. If there are enough people on the server to support a game (more than three), then I'm going to push the cart / capture the flag / shoot you in the head. Nobody should take this personally, it's just how the rules of the game work.

    New Forum! Talk about it!

Irony: I've been searching high and low for an option which lets me turn off the WYSIWYG editor and compose messages in something like BBcode, with a "preview" function to view the results. Finally gave up and accepted that I have to treat this forum like Outlook / MSWord. We do have pbckcode, but that's quite a different animal. Maybe it's just a generational thing (I grew up on DOS and UNIX), but I'm accustomed to typing formatting characters inline on the fly, manually entering IMG and URL tags, etc., rather than clicking buttons. I find it a tad more intuitive. Ok, so I'm not the only one who can't find them. Over in the Donator Perks Thread http://forums.friendshipisgaming.com/index.php?/topic/6-what-would-you-like-to-see-as-a-donator-perk/ (the insert link function isn't working) Steamworks indicated that they are here, but I haven't been able to locate then and didn't want to sound like an idiot.

Payload maps, in general, do present opportunities for chokeyness. (is that a word?) But this isn't a bad thing. In fact, it's part of the appeal of the maps- it provides an opportunity for a well-organized defense to create a stronghold which only teamwork on the part of the offense can break. And since teams flip, it's a [perfectly balanced design feature. The more Payload maps the better, I say.

    RIP PF2

The word you're looking for is "awesome." Granted, I realize a lot of people claimed to hate the "OP Horses" mod. But it added a very interesting and unique element to the game. Still, even without it, Barnyard is shaping up quite nicely. I only played for a short while last night, but felt instantly at home.

    RIP PF2

Sad to see it go. I was there for three years- stumbled across the server completely by accident, and it was my intro to the MLP community in general. But I'm happy that we've found a new home. Played on the server for the first time tonight, and this is a good place.
