Stranges and Unusuals and other rare items. Are they worth it?

Now i want this discussion to stay friendly but i wanna here from you guys.. I do not think those items are worth it when normal items are the same thing with out the risk of being scammed(which is unlikely) or hacked and losing all the items you most likely spent 100's of dollars earning or buying. Now im not putting anyone down for getting these but it just doesn't seem worth it to me when it's just virtual gear and you could argue you can sell it for real profit but in the end and for the most part you probably spend more then what the item or items is worth to earn them. Anyways i wanna know what you guys think because keeping track of kills or a small particle effect that costs so much and does nothing truly different and just put you at risk doesn't seem worth it to me. What do you guys think?
