    Spike! Wings or Without?

Honestly I like Spike with wings, but while browsing Fimfiction someone gave me a link to petition to get rid of them. I'm really curious what the results will be. Please be nice to each other, Friendship is Magic after all.
  2. I mean, if you look at the first half of this season, you have episodes that center around that in some way, (Horse Play), (Non-Compete Clause), (The Maud Couple), (Fake it, Till You Make It), (The Parent Map), and recently the Mid-Season Finale (The Mean 6). If those and what's to come in the 2nd half , if that doesn't show you that this season is about really testing their friendship and learning to accept each other for who they are and what they like and dislike, then I don't know what does. I also won't be surprised, (because IMO it seems to be possibly leading to this), that the School remains open as it is, but that Twilight and her Friends decide to step down as the staff of the school, because they'll come to realize that even though the idea for the school is a good one, that after everything they've gone through this past season, and the strong tests that their Friendship has had to endure, that they themselves still have a lot to learn about Friendship, and that also balancing their other priorities along with being teachers, isn't working out for them, and possibly hand off the teaching duties to those that they know can handle it and balance the time to do it. Or they can change it up a bit, to where School only is open maybe 2-3 times a week, and thus the rest of the week they can focus on strengthing their friendship with each other, and focus on their other priorities outside of teaching. And yes, in the end this will lead to a possibly Neighsay redemption at the end of the season. But what do you guys all think? Comments are Welcomed.
  3. So one question that was brought up, was how are the MANE 7 going to work around being teachers and such at this school, while they have other priorities to attend too. That's a good question. And hopefully, I can answer that. Now some are looking at the school as like a college of some kind, or an independent study program. And if that's the case, then it's real simple, you have one or two classes taught a day and that's it. Then afterwards you use the rest of the day to attend to those other priorities that need attention. For example : On Monday's , you could have Applejack and Rainbow Dash teach their classes, while the others use that day to attend to their other jobs and priorities Then on Tuesday's, Have Fluttershy and Pinkie teach their classes, while the others use that day to attend to their other jobs and priorities Then on Wednesday , Have Rarity teach her's, while the others use that day to attend to their other jobs and priorities, rinse and repeat. And then use the rest of the week to focus on other priorities that need attending too, or use it to just relax and enjoy life. Because you have to remember this, Rarity has 3 shops to attend too, so she would need that extra time to attend to them. Rainbow Dash is a Wonderbolt, so she'll need to rehearse with them, even if they work around her new teaching schedule, she still needs time to rehearse. Applejack has her family's farm that needs tending too. Pinkie has Sugarcube Corner bakery that she works at, so she'll need time for that. Twilight probably would like some time to just relax and read a good book, maybe catch up on what Sunset's doing, spend time with her family, etc. And Starlight would probably enjoy a bit of a break too, especially if she's going to be the school's guidance counselor, I'm sure she would appreciate some time off. But yeah, I believe that's how the school, from an hourly/time-wise perspective will work. I mean if you have 15-16 episodes yet to come that are non-school and non-student six centered, then what I just mentioned here on how it will operate, fits right in with the continuity of the season. Because remember after this past weekend, we now have only 8-9 school and student six centered episodes to go. But that's how (IMO) I believe the School of Friendship will operate in continuity with the 8th season. What do you think though? Do you agree with what I said? Share your thoughts and have a Blessed GOOD FRIDAY.

  7. “Wow! Nice Spread!” Spike exclaimed happily as Pinkie Pie presented him a whole plate of gems. Of course, it made the dragon crave for them, and creatures like them can chomp on them faster than any pony would say a phrase regarding diamonds or jewels. As for Pinkie Pie, she had something in mind as she walked by him. Suddenly, she then rapidly took out and set up a desk light, and her toothless alligator, Gummy, bit Spike’s tail. “It’s all yours, Spike. All you have to do is... talk.” “That’s it? Oh, you got it.” Spike couldn't find anything to say at the least, but decided to go with it. “Okay… uh, beautiful weather we’re having, eh? I love a sunny day, don’t you? The birds chirpin’ and the flowers bloomin’... I mean-” “No, no, no. Talk about our friends.” Pinkie corrected. Spike nodded. “Oh, okay Let’s see, there’s Twilight Sparkle - She’s a unicorn. Good with Magic, A real brainiac... And then you got Rarity - Total knockout. I mean, Twilight seems to think I don’t even have a chance with her, but… eh, what does she know? Anyway, There’s… there’s Fluttershy, a Pegasus who’s afraid of heights. Heh, what’s up with that?” Pinkie became more annoyed and furious at Spike’s random details. She impatiently approached to Spike’s face with her eyes looking straight to his. “Grr! No! You’re not understanding me! I want you to confess!” “Confess?” Spike tilted her head. “Confess!” Pinkie yelled. “Okay! Okay! I’m the one who spilled juice all over Twilight’s copy of “Magical Mysteries and Practical Potions!” “And?” Pinkie expected more from her. “...And I used up all the hot water in Ponyville yesterday when I took a seven-hour bubble bath!” “Aaand?” “...And sometimes… when no one’s around… I do this” He took out a mirror and stood in front of it to flex his muscles. “Lookin’ good, Spike! Lookin’ real good!” Pinkie Pie felt awkward and confused at Spike’s personal secret, and pushed the mirror away from Spike. “No! No! No! No!” “W- Well, What do you wanna hear? Tell me what you want me to say, and I’ll say it!” Spike boasted in concern. He couldn’t take the stress he was getting from Pinkie Pie, but things get worse when she came close to him. “Are my friends are all lying to me? Are they avoiding me because they don’t like my parties? Are they saying they don’t want to be my friends anymore?!” Pinkie shouted uncontrollably at Spike, panting in anger. Spike grew light tears, but he still managed to say what she wants him to say. The problem is whether or not she would believe him. “Okay! Your friends are all lying to you, avoiding you ‘cause they don’t like your parties, and they don’t want to be your friends anymore!” he sobbed as he got off the chair and ran downstairs, traumatized after getting yelled at when leaving Pinkie Pie’s house in a hurry. As soon as he entered Twilight’s house, he zoomed upstairs and cried by his bed. “I don’t deserve this! I didn’t do anything to her!” he continued to sob, refusing to leave an inch away while Pinkie went back to her normal self two hours later. Indeed, her friends did throw a party for her, as far as she was concerned, but she wouldn't understand the aftermath of why her parties were hated. While everyone was enjoying the party, Twilight noticed that Spike wasn’t with them. “Hey Fluttershy. Do you know where Spike is? I haven’t seen him in hours.” Twilight asked her friend. “I don’t know… I'm not sure where, in fact…” Fluttershy replied until Twilight walked up to Pinkie Pie for an answer. “I don’t know. Maybe he’s at home taking a bubble bath...” she said happily. “Do you remember the last time you saw him?” Twilight interrogated. “Well, you girls were keeping this party a secret from me, so I needed to interrogate him for some answers.” “What did you tell him?” “That you were avoiding me and don’t like my parties.” Pinkie blurred out. Twilight considered it preposterous. “Are you nuts? We never avoided you, and we do like your parties. We were busy throwing this surprise party for you.” “Really?” Pinkie sid in I just needed to find someone who’s siding with you.” But this made Twilight confused. “But Spike wasn’t helping me all this time he was just in my house.” “Wait, he wasn’t helping you at all?” She said as she stood in place. “Yes I mean he was in my house doing some chores for me. Do you know what happened to him?” This made Pinkie speechless about the situation. “I kind of yelled at him because I needed to find out where you and your friends were doing.” Twilight became shock of what Pinkie said. “Pinkie why you have to be so aggressive towards him?” “I gave him a plate of gems.” “Did you know he eat any gems?” “I don’t think he did because he ran downstairs for something.” Pinkie replied with a shrug, which made Twilight give concern, and warn her friend. “He must of got traumatized because you yelled at him, Pinkie. Spike didn’t deserve this. You do know he’s a baby dragon, and he would never go against you.” Pinkie had no idea. “But, I gave him a place of gems! He should’ve been happy about that.” “Just because you gave him something he loves doesn't mean he’s going to forgive you after yelling at him.” Twilight corrected. “He’s probably crying at my place.” Pinkie lowered her head, feeling guilty of what she did to Spike. “Do you think I have to talk to him?” Twilight placed her hoof on Pinkie's shoulder. “He would probably come to this party if you do.” *** Pinkie walked out of the barn and headed to Ponyville as quick as she could. By the time she approached Twilight’s house, she opened the door saw darkness. She tried calling out to Spike, but there was no answer. It was then she heard sobbing in the distance that was not too far. She walked up the stairs, and saw that Spike was in Twilight’s bedroom, covering herself with his blanket on the bed. “Spike? Are you okay?” she walked up to him. Spike slowly lifted up his head and turned to her in light shock. “Leave me alone! I didn’t do anything to you!” Spike yelled. “Wait! I’m sorry that I shouted at you. I thought you were siding with my friends.” “Why would I ever avoid you? I said I did nothing!” He sobbed. “Look... I know what I did was wrong, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't come to the party.” Pinkie confessed. She then sat by Spike and bit his blanket to move it aside, seeing that Spike was still filled with tears in bed, looking away from her with his arms to block his eyes in fear. “Awww. Come on, Spikey Wikey.” She used her hoof to move his arm out of his view. Her face gave off an ounce of cuteness, hoping that it would cheer him up a little. “This may look a little personal, but there's something I like about you...” Pinkie added. Spike got his head off the pillow and paid attention to what Pinkie had to say. Pinkie began, hoping he'd never turn again. “When you and Twilight came to Ponyville, it was bizarre because you came from Canterlot - A place I never went to. And, it was surprising that I never met someone who never had any friends, even after they arrived to Ponyville.” “Why is it bizarre? Twilight isn’t weird.” Spike retorted. It was then Pinkie put her hoof around him. “It’s because you're a dragon and not a pony. I mean, I felt off when I saw you since we never had an animal who can talk and so friendly. Also, remember the times we hung out, like the commentary we did during the race?” “Oh yeah. The Running of the Leaves...” Spike recalled. “And remember we had a fun time calling it?” “Yeah, it felt awkward, but it was fun.” Spike smiled, wiping his eyes. He was starting to feel better after talking to Pinkie in a calm way. In fact, things started to feel a little calm for him. “Why is it awkward?” “I was disappointed that I couldn't do commentary, but when you added me in, I was happy. But during the whole time, you made jokes about food. Not that it was a bad thing, but it felt really off...” “It’s my thing to entertain and make people laugh. Some commentaries can be funny when someone wants it to be, even if it's kind of off.” Pinkie explained. “Well I guess I wasn’t prepared for a commentary team after all...” Spike laughed nervously. “It’s okay. My point is that I like you; You're very cute and helpful.” Pinkie smiled, making Spike feel a little more better. As a result, Spike got on his feet and tried to think about what to say to her. “Well…. I say that you're very….” He paused multiple times. “Yes?” Pinkie waited with a slight grin. “...A very… great friend.” He finished. Pinkie gasped after hearing his words before hugging him tightly, making Spike breathless. “Awwww! Spikey…. I don’t know what to say… you're the best dragon I have ever met!” Pinkie cheered. “Okay! Can you let go of me!?” Spike uttered in a choking tone, closely turning to a different color. Pinkie let go of him, still putting her hoof around him. “You know, I was kind of regretful when I yelled at you so I should probably be more kind to my friends who don’t betrayed me.” Pinkie said. Spike felt absolutely better after the talk he had with Pinkie. He still was a little traumatized but she has an idea to get it off his head. “So, do you want to come with me to Sweet Apple Acres to my party? I’ll give you some ice cream, to make the bad times go away.” Pinkie offered. “Okay. I will come with you.” Spike accepted. “Yay!” Pinkie Pie grabbed Spike and placed him on her back. “Ready for a ride?” Spike gulped as Pinkie hopped her way out of Twilight’s Treehouse, making their way to Sweet Apple Acres. Spike and Pinkie’s friendship may be improving, and would become stronger, despite any consequence come what may. After getting yelled at, Pinkie still apologized to Spike after the misunderstanding the two had. They may never hang out that often, but when they're together, they always make a great team on making people happy, anywhere they go.

  9. Thanks To Voice of Reason #VoiceofReason_MLP for inspiring me to do this video, where I discuss how other movies and show (animated) have proven that something like a Spike and Rarity relationship could work. Comments are Welcomed]
  10. I mean At least do some kind of follow-up and at least acknowledge what possibly could be for the MANE 6, and don't just tease and hint at it for one-time only or several-times only, and not do nothing, do something! Comments are Welcomed
  11. Now I do support the pairing. But if and I do emphiaze "IF" the show was to hint at it again or even reference it as a nod to the fanbase. I see it going along the direction of Twilight casting a temporary transformation Spell on Spike (perhaps as a b-day gift) to let him see what it's like to be a pony for at least 24hrs. Then you have Rarity enter into the picture, see Spike in his pony form, and go from there. Thus, though this, you at least for one episode give the Sparity supporters what they have been waiting for, and close the book on it for the time being, with the characters acknowledging that perhaps there is something there between them besides friendship. You want a good example of this, check out the "Family Matters" Episode where Steve temporary became Stephan before changing back, and how Laura fell for him in that form. Just saying. Now I know some people have said he would be nothing more than a colt, but what if Twlight was to cast a transformation spell to not only make him into a pony for day, but also the same height and age, that could work and they could the route I suggested above with Rarity entering the picture and go from there.

  13. I know this feels random but the paring between the 2 should improve in later episodes. In Season 1 they both had moments like in Over A Barrel where Pinkie Sings the Sharing song and Spike playing the piano. But in Party Of One Pinkie Pie Interrogates Spike which had funny moments but Pinkie went too mad against Spike. Sure Pinkie Pie was being ignored from her friends but they trying there best to throw a party for her. Why is this a problem? because not only Spike didn't do anything to deserve this, after Party Of One there where some moments but they faded away after season 2. I just didn't like the way Spike had to go though in Pinkie Interrogation even if he got jems at the end. My point is that they have a minor relationship when it comes to hading out. They may have the less interest from each other, but they make the greatest of jokes like they have Shinning Armor and Princess Cadence cake dolls kissing each other. I hope they have more moments and maybe have a episode for both of them (I know it's more awkward but we see a lot of awkward but Funny moments from Pinkie Pie and Spike can have more development).
  14. I find it kind of unsettling to be honest. I know Faust did it to make the audience understand that Rarity is a beautiful character, but the fact that Spike visually looks like a kid makes it weird to me. I would prefer an episode where Rarity states that they can only be friends.
  15. A really big weakness in the first four-plus seasons was Spike's characterization. Examples include turning him into an unfunny victim of comedy "because Spikabuse is so funny"; derailing him into an greedy, dumb, and/or antagonistic shell of himself; shifting (all of) the blame to him; and being the star of some awful episodes when he's really good. When he's good, it's normally when he's a secondary character. Pre-S6, his best roles were Lesson Zero and EQG1. Yet, when he's the star, something happens for reasons I don't know. It's like they didn't know what to do with him and write an episode while tagging his name on the paper. Examples include: Owl's Well: Make Spike feel jealous even though he has very good reasons to believe he's being replaced. Dragon Quest: His best characterization as a mane character, yet it fails for unfortunate implications and usage of horrible stereotypes. Spike at Your Service: Disregarding past continuity to make him incapable of doing the simplest jobs. Equestria Games: Halfway through, he turns into an idiot. Princess Spike: The quintessential awful Spike episode. Blatant contrivances, idiot!Spike, Spike's greed blamed for the problems when it's a non sequitur, and an ending with major sexist implications. If there was an episode where I'd say the show jumped the shark, this was it. But ever since Princess Spike, his characterization significantly improved in a few ways: Characterization consistency. There's been one or two episodes where he was hit with the buttmonkey status, notably in Newbie Dash as the tertiary comic relief. Other than that, there's been way more effort into giving him the treatment he deserves. Amending Fences and The Cutie Re-Mark in season five are two obvious examples. But season six is the most obvious. I'll get to that point in a bit. He actually feels like a character. The Mane Six are all very likable, well-rounded, believable, and relatable. Unfortunately, Spike was the odd one out with the most inconsistency of the seven (now eight with Starlight). Today, his best qualities are not only brought to the forefront. Now he has flaws that make sense. It's like they take the best of Spike (A Dog & Pony Show, Lesson Zero, Dragon Quest, EQG1 & RR, Simple Ways, and Castle Sweet Castle) and develop him through there. The roles given to him feel like he belongs. He spoke not much in Amending Fences, but he has reason to be there, and his role in giving Moondancer the picture in the frame brought that hanging plot closure. In The Crystalling, he and Starlight began a really good friendship; they understand each other and want to make things right. Spike wants to fulfill Twilight's mission of Starlight understanding the Magic of Friendship, while Starlight wants to patch things up with Sunburst. In the end, they figure out their way of solving her friendship problem. But then come his two episodes, Gauntlet of Fire and The Times They Are a Changeling. GoF reopened a hanging plot from DQ, and Lewis and Songco provided some level of closure. Not all dragons are sexist bullies. He regains respect for his race and understands them more. Ember is an excellent character. By winning the gauntlet and passing the scepter to Ember, he gains an ally in the Dragon Kingdom. It's his best strengths-focused characterization. Times gives us his most balanced characterization yet: flawed and prone to making mistakes without making him OOC, very responsible, and willing to sacrifice his reputation to do what he believes is right. Him befriending a race with a notorious history is something he can relate to. Thorax wants to understand the Magic of Friendship, and Spike bridges the gap to help him. Character development from past episodes sticks, and both episodes are for the better. This is his Wonderbolts Academy. Here's my mini-review for it. I don't have any idea why that's the case. I have two theories: Complaints of his characterization in seasons three and four impacts the rest of season five and this season. As written before, his low-quality episodes have always been a very sore spot for FIM. Following Equestria Games (which was sharply criticized for many reasons, one being Spike's characterization), DHX went back to take a look at what they can do better for him. Unfortunately, Princess Spike was too far in development to make changes, but they seem like they realize they can write him better. Since PS, DHX has put more and more effort into his character, and my theory is the criticisms helped give Spike some much-needed direction. Josh Haber becomes the editor for season six: Aside from McCarthy, he gets Spike. He writes Spike better than almost anyone on the team, and him being there gives the writers a direction for the little dragon. Haber becoming the editor might be the best thing to happen to Spike. Regardless how you feel about season six, there's one thing it does so well: Spike is getting the treatment he rightfully deserves. I don't know if DHX'll return to their old habits, but if they continue this current treatment, it'll be easily his best season yet. What do you think of Spike's characterization post-Princess Spike? Have you, too, noticed improvement? What theories can you come up for his characterization turnaround?
  16. I really don't know why the directors need to keep this relationship so open-ended, even when the comics have already told us that Twilight helped raise him they won't actually directly confirm how he is involved with Twilight's family. They just make it worse by making it seem like Cadance and Shining Armor have a close relationship with him/a long history with him. I don't know many fans who don't want Spike to be considered part of Twilight's family, so I don't know why the writers don't clearly define their relationship. It feels like it is there so the writers don't have to commit to a certain characterization.
