Don't get me wrong I dig The Rainbooms :)

I just think it could be so much more. I know, I know they're still in high school and have to defend Equestria while navigating the complexities of friendship. So practice time is definitely at a minimum. There's always room for improvement, and I get the feeling that they're still searching for their sound. Several years ago I discovered a multi-instrumentalist named Joey Cohen [his musical endeavor is titled "Sky Sanctuary"]. When it comes to blending genres within a metal/hard rock/djent song structure he is a rainbow in the dark. So you're probably wondering "What the hay does this have to do with EQG and The Rainbooms?" Listen to some of his work and picture our homies playing a similar style. The only thing is it's instrumental, lyrics can be powerful when utilized correctly, and not having vocals in their songs seems rehoofulous [get it? wink wink nudge nudge]. But take the battle of the bands in "Rainbow Rocks" for example; if they played a track that was along the same lines the sirens would have been sprinkle-blasted to bits!

It may not be your cup of tea [no shame in that, to each his own :) ] but it seems so fitting, since they're the defenders of a parallel Equestria. If the gang was tasked with facing another musical foe I picture a super saiyan 4-esque rainbow blastwave of love, awesomeness  and radiance being emitted in all directions. If they're gonna be in a band [that's already pretty darn awesome] hopefully they ascend to that level of tubular radical righteous coolness. I'm not sure if Joey Cohen is into anything MLP, but it sure does fit if you ask me. If you like what you hear check out http://skysanctuary.net

The Rainbooms are a pop-rock band. Some of them might like metal, but that's not the kind of music they play, and ostensibly their simple harmonies were enough to defeat the Dazzlings. I just don't think their sound will evolve into anything that heavy and complex. Might as well suggest they switch to gangster rap. A catchy groove and some tight harmonies are enough to push back whatever monsters come their way.
