AaronMk 500 Report post Posted August 29, 2016 Set after the events of Hearth Warming's Eve, A Game of Pony will be a game of pone intrique and politics between the clans and fiefdoms of the pony races on their migration south from the cold north. While the banishment of the Windigos helped to underscore the problems of the inter-racial competition between the races, it did not quell the ambition of certain forces who had been operating outside the story of Hearth's Warming. And so with the ice thawed and unmitigated problems still persistent, the struggle to develop a single pony kingdom is all the real, with many a hoof being put down as barons, dukes, kings, queens, and duchesses wish to put their name in history as the first to lead all ponies in peace and prosperity. But it will not be by word and friendship alone. ______________ So I had something akin to this floating around here a year ago but I got side-tracked when I got too lazy to make a map and I joined other RPs elsewhere, thus sapping my time to look into actually carrying this to fruition. So, what was a Game of Pony? Roughly speaking, Game of Pony would have been - and will be - a nation-based roleplay. The premise being as a 'player' your control is not restricted to a single character and their immediate surroundings: but an entire state, as in a nation. Through the characters that make up the nation you will explore the internal intrique and the direction it will go in world politics. Preferably, this will be told through the viewing glass of characters who are citizens and operators in the state; peasant, soldier, or monarch and bureaucrat. The ambitions and want of the individual or individuals being the determining aspect. In short, you will be partaking in the plot not through the guise of the Lone Wanderer or any single adventuring hero. But you will partaking in the plot as you would in Civilization, Age of Empires, or most preferably: Crusader Kings. You will have a broad spectrum of control and you could very well play this isolated or involved with others; all your personalities in the realm may not see eye-to-eye and could very well bicker among themselves. That said, I do not plan nor do I want to introduce gamey aspects to this RP and would much rather leave it up to like writing any normal story with a heavy emphasis on narrative. Any conflict between players should be planned out beforehand. Or any decision made should be done on what it might add to the flow of the story and not whether or not it will ensure your dominance. Looking all big and buff is fine and all but don't stick your head so far into it you can't see passed your own dillusions. I'm not going to go into any more detail, I'll flesh things out when I know I have interest. That includes an actual application and a better opener to the lore. For now, have the map: I of course may need to play with this more later.
