Awesome Games Done Quick 2017

Recommended Posts

Games Done Quick is a series of charity video game marathons. These events feature high-level gameplay by speedrunners raising money for charity. Games Done Quick has teamed up with several charities in its six-year history, including Doctors Without Borders and the Prevent Cancer Foundation. The event features high-level play by speedrunners, playing games as quickly as possible. During the stream, viewers can donate to see various challenges completed, or to be entered in for awesome prizes! Make sure to come back for the show, starting at 10:30 AM Central Time on Sunday, January 8. The schedule link below will do automatic time conversions. is the main site, if you want to go straight to the Twitch stream.

Come on down if you want to see people destroy your favorite games, help out the Prevent Cancer Foundation (Winter/Awesome)/Doctors Without Borders (Summer), or kill the animals in Super Metroid. As always they have a host of great games, some not so great but still fun to break games, and the oh so wonderful TAS Block (If you haven't seen one- tune in Saturday, they're always a real treat.) Schedule is at so you can see what games you'll miss sleep for. Whether you've seen it live, have only seen various archives on youtube, or haven't heard of them at all before, all are welcome to see the madness that is only achievable with a lot of hard work and breaking games in half by any means necessary. For a week straight. It's always a treat, and I recommend you check it out if you haven't seen one yet- they're a lot of fun and for a good cause. Have fun and keep gaming!

(Yes, I'm likely going to copy/paste the same thing every time one of these rolls around, with minor changes as needed. What can I say, I'm lazy like that!)

And with that the event is done for this year, having raised over  $2,214,103 for the Prevent Cancer foundation this event, and having broken over $10,000,000 total raised for charity as of this year, absolutely smashing the previous record of $1,573,000 (Around that ballpark) from the AGDQ 2015 event. It's been an amazing year for speedrunning, and if you've missed any of the runs that you wanted to see, or if you're running through old threads in the future and haven't heard of the event before, remember to check out to watch what you've missed, rewatch great runs, or just use the runs to find new ways to develop your own runs of the game, speedruns or not. Keep on gaming, everyone, and I hope to see you all again this Summer when SGDQ rolls around again!
