Would you rather take the lump sum or the monthly checks

Lump sum, pay the taxes and settle for "merely" hundreds of millions of dollars.

 

Then I'd do boring stuff. Squirrel away a few tens of millions for myself and live a Presidential salary from the interest, do something likewise for family members. Donate the rest to worthy local causes. Set up investment or funds to provide perpetual income to things like libraries, healthcare/childcare for working women, stuff like that. Out of my own personal dosh I'd also try to fund things that I would have liked to have around as a kid, like "maker spaces" and field trips and scholarship programs.
