So, this is what reloading a double-barreled shotgun should look like

Also when I reload the Shortstop, Scout doesn't open the bullet chamber and just touches the back of his shortstop

This is nothing major, I can still play the game just fine, it just makes me cringe everytime i see this reloading animation because it...it just looks weird, does anyone have any idea why?

Verify your game cache.

 

Alternatively, turn off viewmodels and ignore the problem.

I actually play in cl_first_person_uses_world_model 1 sometimes, but from time to time i do like to admire the animation

Edit: verifying the game cache did nothing either

Looks like Valve screwed up the model/animation or something for the lowest LOD. r_rootlod 0 doesn't have the issue while r_rootlod 2 has it.

Post-Gun Mettle, cranking your textures/models to the max can perform better than setting them as low as possible.

How is this even a thing that can happen?

Edit:

I should also note that it's a "can' and not a "will". On my rig, maxing those settings performs as expected, but there's no major difference between r_rootlod 2 and -1, and similar for mat_picmip 2 and -1.
