Inktober 2020 is upon us, and that means it's time to break out the markers and pens and get arting!

This year's daily prompts:

But feel free to make up your own, or use an alternative list!

This thread is open to ALL who want to participate.
Don't feel pressured to go all-or-nothing on my account, though! If you can only muster up a few days' prompts all month, that's better than nothing as far as I'm concerned.

Day 3: Bulky!

de69alu-c71f7b29-deed-4941-ab81-2ee545cd

Spike, as Garbuncle, is trying to make a critical roll!
This was a rush job since I had a bad case of artist's block today. Still, I got something on paper!

Day 5: Blade
Or Spade, in this case!

Who is this Frank Frazetta you keep talking about? Never heard of him! :ajlie:

Day 7 - Fancy! Pantsy! It's Fancy Pants!

I tried something new here besides portraiture. For the magical aura, I used thick strokes from a black ink brush pen for an outline. Then I went back and filled the strokes in with little dots from a white ink pen I just bought the other day. I like the effect, sort of a reverse-Kirby Dots. But maybe it's not right for these ephemeral unicorn auras?

Thanks! I haven't drawn anything seriously for over a year, and very sparsely for the last couple of years before that.
Inktober is helping me dip my toe back in, by holding my face under!

Day 9: Throw!

Spike you don't even have wings yet. What are you doing helping AJ with the rodeo? Silly dragon.

I used my new brush pen for the heavy outlines on this one. It's a little trickier than a felt-tip pen, that's for sure! Bristles, man!

Here's a version without the brush outlines for comparison. And yes, my hands were extra shaky tonight.

Day 10: Hope!

This might not make sense if you haven't followed the IDW comics up to a certain point. Also, crystal pony facets are hard to render in just ink.

Yeah, Radiant ends up looking like Bizarro-Pony!

Or the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing pony! (Not to be confused with Thingpone.)

I ran out of original ideas tonight, so I just hand-copied a meme. Sweetie Belle reacts appropriately to my "effort" for Day 11: Disgusted!

The version I copied isn't even the first one to use that face and that meme text.

So I guess you could say there's not even a TRACE of originality?

Day 12: Slippery!

This was done pretty quickly, to make use of a sheet of paper with a huge error on the bottom half that would otherwise have been trashed.

HORSE PROBLEMS!

Whoops, lost a day somehow?

DAY 13: DUNE

Just don't say she plays with a handicap!

DAY 14: ARMOR

2466882.png

I think the one where Twilight donned the Power Armor of Friendship and plowed through the changeling horde like a snowplow under a come-to-life spell was my favorite episode of the series.

(I get to kid because I have the toy)

Day 15: Outpost

Going back and trying to draw some scenery from the show often turns up gems like Rusty Bucket's guardhouse in the episode "Frenemies." A ton of effort and talent went into making this show, even the things that it would be easy to neglect like a one-off background character's hovel in the mountains.

Late Day 17: Storm drawing

Trying to go back and do some make-up prompts for those days when things happen IRL.

Day 21: Sleep

Vaguely familiar word, but it's not coming to me right now... back to drawing.

(Yes, still some unfinished prompts. See self-portrait above for the explanation)

Day 26: Hide!

Ever notice how much time our heroines spend hiding in the bushes to spy on somepony?
Should we be worried about what that says about them? Or maybe what it says about us?
